Animal identification as collaborative research
Fans are cataloging animals from official trailers and correcting each other's claims. A visible animal species does not necessarily prove a hunting, petting, or collecting system.
THE RECEIPT
What we know.
From image to animal identification
Fauna analysis relies on comparing image sections. However, a recognizable bird or predator cannot always be definitively identified down to the species level. Perspective and image size can obscure distinguishing features. Therefore, corrections are an essential part of the process, especially when dealing with similar species.
Sight and mechanics are recorded separately.
For an animal database, a general, reliable name is recommended as long as the precise identification remains uncertain. Furthermore, a visible animal does not confirm either its suitability for hunting or its established behavior. Separate fields should be provided for the photograph of the animal found and the species identification.

Empty spaces indicate a lack of evidence.
Unlabeled areas on a fan map initially indicate gaps in knowledge. This does not necessarily mean that the finished game world will remain empty in those areas.
Maps change with new images
The mapping community is constantly revising locations, outlines, and place names. Therefore, older maps should always be shown with their version number.
