Maps change with new images
The mapping community is constantly revising locations, outlines, and place names. Therefore, older maps should always be shown with their version number.
Community & open questions / GTA VI
Unlabeled areas on a fan map initially indicate gaps in knowledge. This does not necessarily mean that the finished game world will remain empty in those areas.

THE RECEIPT
Comparing versions of YANIS' community map reveals a fundamental problem: a closed outline quickly appears definitive, even though some sections have only been added. The comments discussed here specifically address removing insufficiently populated areas as a step towards a more careful reconstruction.
An empty area initially indicates a lack of information. It proves neither the presence of water nor the absence of cities. Maps should clearly distinguish between confirmed points and added shapes.
