The mapping community is constantly revising locations, outlines, and place names. Therefore, older maps should always be shown with their version number.

How is the community map created?
Fans are reconstructing Leonida from trailer images, screenshots, and comparisons with real locations. The methodology article describes the division of labor between cartographers and analysts.

What we know.
A spatial model is created from individual images.
The mapping community collects prominent buildings, bridges, street signs, and landscape features from published material. The crucial element is to identify the same reference point from multiple perspectives. This allows for the establishment of relative positions before a broader context can be established. The methodological article presented here illustrates this work as an ongoing collaborative research process.
Each map point should include its image source, viewing direction, and confirmation of its placement. If evidence is lacking, the area can remain blank. A map with more streets is not automatically more accurate.

Landmarks first, overall outline later
For a personal database, individual visible landmarks are often more useful than a supposedly complete map. Each landmark can be assigned an image, an estimated position, and a verification step.
