Two entries, the same rating
The USK lists GTA 6 separately for PlayStation 5 and Microsoft Xbox Series. Both are adults-only under Section 14 of the German Youth Protection Act and name Take-Two Interactive GmbH as publisher. The Xbox review is dated September 13, 2026, while PS5 was reviewed on October 13. The different dates do not change the result. Rockstar still lists November 19, 2026 for both consoles. The rating says nothing about frame rate, graphics modes or technical parity.

Why GTA 6 is adults-only
The USK cites graphic violence, drugs and criminal role models. These are standardised descriptors, not a mission list. They cover strongly visualised violence, frequent or positive drug depiction and crimes presented without sufficient criticism, including robberies, illegal races or criminal organisations. The rating fits an adult crime setting without revealing plot points. The USK says 18-rated games require a level of distance from the material that cannot generally be assumed for 16- and 17-year-olds.

What “in-game purchases” confirms
Both records carry an in-game purchases notice. It only confirms that additional content can be bought directly. The USK gives generic examples such as items, virtual currency, subscriptions and upgrades, but does not assign one of them specifically to GTA 6. The notice does not mention random items, so it does not prove loot boxes or pay-to-win. Rockstar lists an Ultimate Edition and a separate upgrade, but this does not explain a separate online mode or its business model.

What the rating changes in Germany
The adults-only label does not mean GTA 6 is banned or indexed. Section 12 of the Youth Protection Act bars physical copies with this label from being offered or supplied to minors, and digital services must clearly display an existing rating. The USK also notes that retailers must respect the age label. Families can add account and console restrictions. For adults, the decision changes neither the announced date nor access to the regular German version; it mainly provides clarity before purchase.

What the rating does not answer
A USK decision assesses youth protection, not quality or technical readiness. It says nothing about reviews, performance, download size, accessibility or world size. The two console records also do not confirm a PC version; Rockstar currently lists only PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. PEGI and ESRB are separate regional systems. Adults in Germany may buy the regular version, while minors may not receive it. Content descriptors and the purchase notice remain useful alongside the age number.
